Update from the Pastor Nominating Committee
Trinity’s Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC) has been making steady progress toward calling our new pastor.
In its early meetings, Rev. Erin Counihan—Trinity’s liaison to the Giddings-Lovejoy Presbytery’s Commission on Ministry (COM)—presented a detailed overview of the entire nomination process and oriented the PNC to its work. The PNC also spent time prayerfully reflecting on God’s call in our community by carefully reviewing the April 2021 Mission and Ministry Study Report.
During June and July, the PNC team completed work on our Ministry Information Form (MIF) — essentially a detailed job description for the next pastor — and other key documents. The session approved the Ministry Information Form in its August 4th meeting. The Giddings-Lovejoy Commission on Ministry (COM) has approved it, and now the Ministry Information Form will be matched with available pastor candidates via PCUSA’s Church Leadership Connection process.
In the weeks and months ahead, PNC will continue to meet regularly to review candidate files, conduct interviews, visit with finalists, and finally submit its recommendation for congregational approval.
As the PNC’s work progresses, Trinity members are invited to support its efforts in prayer and to reach out to any of the PNC members with questions, comments or suggestions.
PNC members: Steven Crumb, Beth David, Lorie Damon (co-chair), George Philips, Sarah Mayer, Mary McKown, Catherine Ray (co-chair).
