Trinity Volunteers Help Afghans Settle In in Greater St. Louis

As part of Trinity’s initiative to help Afghan refugees settle into their new homes in the St Louis area, three volunteers, John Merker, Jim Person, Diane O’Brien and Nigel Holloway, helped several individual families collect food and other items from the International Institute on Arsenal St on April 23. This entailed picking up a senior member of the refugee family from their homes and extended-stay hotels, driving them to the institute, collecting provisions and driving them back. Further volunteer work is planned.

The photo shows the pick-up location at the institute.

This is one part of our volunteer work. We are also collecting headphones and lamps, and our children are collecting quarters so that our new Afghan neighbors can pay to use the laundromat. During worship on Sunday, May 1st, we will dedicate the donations and financial offerings – so there is still time to give – and to volunteer
