Matthew 25 April Adult Ed

This April, we invite members and friends of Trinity Presbyterian Church to join us for a special two-part Adult Education series focused on the Matthew 25 initiative of the PC(USA).

  • On Sunday, April 3, at 7:00 p.m. on Zoom, we’ll host a Bible study focused on a careful reading of the 25th chapter of Matthew, where Jesus lays out the powerful vision and purpose that inspired the three pillars of the M25 initiative: building congregational vitality, dismantling structural racism, and eradicating systemic poverty.
  • On the following Sunday, April 10, at 7:00 p.m. on Zoom, we’ll approach the M25 from a cultural-historical perspective as we welcome R. Marie Griffith, a historian of American religion at WashU, who will speak to us about her timely book Making The World Over: Confronting Racism, Misogyny, and Xenophobia in U.S. History (2021), followed by Q&A. (Reading the book in advance is not required to participate.) From the publisher: “Making the World Over” is Marie Griffith’s thoughtful response to an imperiled nation that has forgotten how to listen and debate productively, at a time when it needs vigorous discourse more than ever. Griffith performs the urgent work of examining the histories behind the issues at the root of our country’s conflicts both past and present, from race and immigration to misogyny and reproductive rights. This is more than a study of the issues; it is an attempt to shed real light on how to encourage constructive dialogue and move society forward.”
