Helping Afghan Refugees

In case you missed the Mission for Ministry, we’d like to tell you that Trinity is working in various ways to help Afghans to settle here in the St Louis area. If you would like to help here are the ways:

To work with Hannah Peters to have our kids collect quarter coins so new Afghan residents can do their laundry. We’re inviting children to bring their quarters to church with them and pop them in the Bunny Money jar. We’ll do a dedication of the quarters during worship. Adults are very welcome also to join in this activity and we can all watch the quarters grow together.

We will organize a collection of headphones & earbuds for Afghans to do virtual learning.

We will collect lamps with lightbulbs for refugees. There will be a collection point for these things in the narthex, so bring them with you to church for the next four Sundays.

We’re also putting together a team or teams of volunteers to help prepare apartments for incoming Afghan refugees, making sure they are clean and ready for their new occupants.
Each team is responsible for:

Purchasing food with gift cards supplied by the International Institute and delivering food to the new home

Sweeping and wiping surfaces in the kitchen and bathroom

Assembling furniture

Storing items for the kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom

Making beds.

Please volunteer to join a team of people who are prepared to work for three hours in a morning or an afternoon to perform these tasks some time in April. The time slots are only on weekdays, so this is a job for people with flexible schedules and a car. To begin with we will aim to perform this task once. If it is successful, we will do it again.
