Let Us Know
[Trinity]
Please let someone in your church community know if there are significant issues going on in your life. The Deacons are available to assist with tangible needs such as meals, transportation, etc., but just as importantly with prayers, a listening ear, and support. Sharing with members in our church both the positive, and not so positive things that are going on with us lets us get to know each other better, develop relationships with others in the church, and build a sense of community.

Bear one another's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. - Galatians 6:2

The Trinity Deacons' ministry is to lead the congregation in extending Christian love to members in need. If you know of a need, if you have a need, or if you would like to be involved, please contact a member of the Board of Deacons. There are a number of ways to contact the Deacons:

The Deacons are organized into three different ministry areas:

  1. Ministry to Members with Short-term Needs: When there is a new birth, an illness or hospitalization, a death or serious illness in the family, or some other significant life transition, the Trinity Deacons stand ready to share Christ's love. Caring is expressed through visits, cards, calls, meals, rides, help with housework, watching children. When the Deacon's learn of a need, a Deacon with interest and expertise in the area of need is assigned to follow-up
  2. Ministry to Homebound Members: Trinity Church has a number of members who are no longer able to regularly participate in the life of the congregation. Many times, these members have been faithful participants in the life of the church for decades. It is important for these members to feel connected to the congregation and for the congregation to be connected to these members. The Deacons maintain regular contact with these members by visiting, sending cards, and bringing gifts at different times of the year.
  3. Telephone Ministry: We all need to be connected to one another. This ministry is another way for members to care for members. At least once a week, a volunteer will call those who would like this kind of contact.

Ways to get involved

If you would like to participate in this important ministry, there are many ways you can get involved:

  1. Maintain regular contact with a homebound member (the Deacons will assign a member to you - We can try to find someone who lives close to you)
  2. Cook a meal to be frozen and kept at church for a last minute need
  3. Cook a hot meal for a member in need (the Deacons will call you when a need arises)
  4. Participate in the Telephone Ministry (a member will be assigned to you)

If you would like to sign up or if you would like more information about these service opportunities, please e-mail the Deacons or call a Deacon.
